Past Performances

The past several years of Theatre Festival competition has brought a lot of recognition to the TAHS theatre program.

  • 2018-2019 - Cinderella Waltz

  • 2017-2018 - Bury the Dead

  • 2016-2017 - Peter/Wendy - 1st place in Conference 29, Region 3A West, and State 3A competitions. The Turner Ashby Team also won three of the eight best actor awards in the Conference 29 competition. These awards went to Brad Ridder, Blair Sharman, and Gino Stickley. (Photos)

  • 2015-2016 - The Great Choice: An Incident of the Next War

  • 2014-2015 - Ruby Sunrise

  • 2013-2014 – Big Love

  • 2012-2013 – The Cave Dwellers – 2nd place in District (Honorable Mention Acting Awards Aaron Staple as The King and Luke McLaughlin as The Duke; 4th place in Region, (Aaron Staple as The King won a best actor award and acting nominations to Alex Roll as The Queen, Marie Leckey as the Girl, and Jason Propst as The Father); Honorable Mention (top 8 out of 40) at the Virginia Theatre Association Conference, (Julia Nolt received an award for best costumes, Megan Holden received first place in set design. Alex Roll’s playwriting team got 3rd place and Aaron Stapel and Luke McLaughlin’s team won first in playwriting. The Technical students won 2nd place in the Tech Olympics, and Luke McLaughlin won a Best Actor award.)

  • 2011-2012 – The Anatomy of Gray – 1st place in District, Regional, and State, (Megan Clinedinst as Tiny Wingfield and Andrew Raines as Crutch Collins won best actor wards in State competition), 1st place at the Virginia Theatre Association Secondary School Theatre Festival.

  • 2010-2011 – The King Stag - 2nd place in District, 1st place in Region, 4th place in State, Honorable mention at VTA

  • 2009-2010 - Alice in Wonderland – (Colin McLaughlin won a best actor award as the Mad Hatter in the State competition), TA’s ensemble won an Honorable mention at VTA.

  • 2008-2009 – The Rivers and Ravines

  • 2007-2008 – Women and Wallace

  • 2006-2007 – The White Room of My Remembering – 2nd place in District

  • 2005-2006 – The Insanity of Mary Girard – 1st place in District, 2nd place in bracket at VTA

  • 2004-2005 – I Never Saw Another Butterfly – 4th place in District

  • 2003-2004 – Merry Regiment of Women

  • 2002-2003 – Picnic on the Battlefield – 2nd place in District, 3rd place in Region

  • 1999-2000 – Echoes in the Hallway – 2nd place in District, 1st in Regional, 5th place in State, Final 4 at VTA-

  • 1998-1999 – Wings – 1st place in District and Region, 7th in state

  • 1997-1998 – The Insanity of Mary Girard – 1st place in District and Region, 4th in State
