It has been another fantastic week at JWES! Mrs. Flory and Mr. Rice's classes went on an art field trip to Braithwaite Studios to make glass etchings to take home. Mrs. Mizell and Mrs. Strawderman's classes will go after the Thanksgiving break. The students had a great time and will have a special treasure to remember from their third grade year!
Those who attended the PAC meeting learned about the projects that students in Mrs. Haley's class are doing with iPads as part of her pilot program. They are using technology to enhance what they are learning in the classroom.
The school spelling bee was held today. After eleven rounds, Easton Crockett was declared the winner, with Brad Moseley as the runner-up. Easton will represent JWES at the county spelling bee in January. Way to go, Easton! We are proud of everyone who participated in today's bee.
We are offering an opportunity for early morning physical activity for the students before our day begins. Each grade level (grades 1-5) has an assigned day to use the main gym for the students to either play basketball, walk, run, or engage in other fun activities from 7:50-8:20AM. Please be watching for information about this exciting opportunity from your student's teacher.
The TAHS Athletic Booster Club will be having their Annual Holiday Apparel sale this Saturday, November 19, and Saturday, December 17, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM in the TA large commons for anyone interested in purchasing TA apparel.
Please see the attached flyer about the Jingle Bell Dash sponsored by the TAHS FCCLA.
Next week will be a short week! Tuesday will be the last day of school before our Thanksgiving break. The TAHS One Act team will be at JWES at 1:30PM on Tuesday, November 22, to perform their play, Peter/Wendy, based on Peter Pan. The team has already won the District competition and Regional's and will compete at the State competition in December. We are excited they are coming to perform for us!
A reminder there is NO SCHOOL from Wednesday, November 23-Friday, November 25. Students will return to school on November 28.
Stay warm this weekend!
