We had another great week at JWES! The warm weather at the beginning of the week allowed students to be outside for recess and get fresh air! The fifth grade students were able to visit Pence Middle School this week to learn about classes they will take next year as sixth graders.
This coming week, students are gearing up for the 100th Day of School on Wednesday, February 1. There will be lots of fun activities planned in the classrooms to celebrate. Our monthly Domino's Pizza Night is also scheduled for Wednesday, February 1. The PTA Board meeting will be Thursday, February 2, at 6:30 PM in the library.
As we enter the second semester, please remember that if your student is absent from school, we do need you to call the school that day and then send a note to the office about the absence within three days of your student returning to school. Also, the school day begins at 8:20 AM. Students can be dropped off at school as early as 7:45 AM. We want every student to arrive on time and be in school every day for all of the great things planned during the day!
As you are aware, the Rockingham County School Board has initiated its search for a new superintendent. To assist in this important process, the board has retained the services of BWP & Associates. A very important step in this process is to identify characteristics we will be looking for in our new superintendent. As parents and community members. you know the importance of selecting the right leader for our school division. The Rockingham County School Board is asking for your assistance in this important step and invites you to participate in a meeting with consultants for BWP & Associates. This meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 1, from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Turner Ashby High School Library. An online survey regarding the superintendent search is also available on the school division's website: www.rockingham.k12.va.us. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this important task.
Stay warm this weekend!
