Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend! Please read the attached JagWire from the PTA.
We had a great week celebrating Red Ribbon Week! Everyone wore pajamas on Monday and red on Wednesday! Students also received a special "Smarties" candy treat at lunch to show we are smart at JWES and say "No" to drugs.
Second grade enjoyed their field trip to the Frontier Culture Museum on Monday, and the TAHS Marching Band performed for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders on Thursday as a preview showing what they could choose to participate in when they get to middle and high school.
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, November 7. This is a Parent-Teacher Conference Day. Students will also have NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 8.
The mobile dentist will be at JWES when students return to school on Wednesday, November 9.
On Thursday, November 10, at 1:30, the fourth graders will perform their program on Virginia history. We will also be recognizing and thanking our local veterans. If you or a family member is a veteran, please join us on Thursday so we can honor you! Beau Dickenson, RCPS social studies curriculum leader, will be giving a brief speech on Veteran's Day at the end of the program. The fourth graders will also perform their Virginia history program that evening at 7:00 PM. Veterans in attendance will also be recognized. We hope everyone can come!
We want to say a huge thank you to the students, parents, family members, the Perdue Foundation, and PTA for raising money for the new playground! It was ordered this week and will be installed over winter break! We can't wait to play on it!
Also, some of Mr. Dishman's art students will be painting a snow plow the next few weeks. The plow was delivered today and is located in the grass outside of the annex.
Enjoy the extra days off, and we will see the students back at school on Wednesday!
