Mr. Lapp's 5th grade class has been joined by Ms. Patrick, a student teacher from JMU, for the last few months. She organized a project with the students based upon the Humans of New York blog. JWES students interviewed staff members here and the result is the following Humans of John Wayland.
We had our official playground dedication this morning. Here is a short video that was put together for it:
JWES students participated in this years Fun Run back on September 30 and their families were challenged to donate to the PTA so that the students would be able to enjoy a brand new playground at the school. Those families met and exceeded that challenge. As a result, JWES held an event last Friday that pitted two teams of teachers against each other in a group of relay races. These teams were led by Mrs. Ridder and Ms. Johnston. JWES students had an so much fun. Here is a video with some of the highlights.
JWES celebrates the National Anthem every year on September 14. This year we gathered around the flagpole along with the TA Chamber Singers from Turner Ashby High School to sing the National Anthem. This is a video of the event.
